The Global Private Museum Network has been founded to support and network private museums of contemporary art (as defined above), both with each other and with other relevant institutions and agencies, including the bodies that represent major public museums in the west. The network will respond to the developing needs of its members which may involve brokering relationships with major public museums, fundraising, touring exhibitions, growing the audience at members’ museums, sharing curatorial and other expertise. The long term ambition is to place private museums at the heart of the contemporary art world and to secure for its members recognition of their key role in not simply showcasing but defining what counts as the art of our time.
