UOSMUN is a debating club that aims to embody or mimic the United Nations and the major world issues on a miniature scale. It aims to engage and encourage students to discuss the issues at hand and find resolutions for them in a professional setting. The club was established in 2015 by two students and now harbors 50+ members, of which several have won awards, and is aiming to expand in the near future. Objectives: 1. Raising awareness of the role the United Nations plays in world affairs 2. Involving youth in all aspects of global affairs in order to inspire the next generation of leaders to get involved in global issues 3. Helping students develop various skills including public speaking, group communication, research, active listening, negotiating, conflict resolution, note taking, and technical writing. 4. Establish a reputation of the University of Sharjah as an educational institution that plays a role in fostering initiatives aimed at producing global leaders with the ability to tackle issues that confront the world today.
