Samar Trail is a moderate level enjoyable hike. The whole loop takes about 3 hours at a relaxed pace. There’s a few good viewing points with benches to stop and rest. To find the starting point, there are two options: 1. Start at the grey ladder near the location of the pin. You will have to follow the connection trail going mostly uphill for a while before joining with Samar trail. You will come across a wooden trailhead post directing you with the names of the trails clearly marked. And after completing the Samar trail loop you will have to take the same “connection” trail back to the ladder. 2. Continue up in your car a few more turns on the main road until you reach an unmarked parking spot. That parking spot joins more closely with the loop and is a more convenient place to join with Samar trail. Follow the trail from the parking towards the left, which will take you on a relatively flat road until you reach the Samar trailhead.
