Created by photographer and artist, Jalal Abuthina, Inside Dubai (ID) is a collection of photographic cultural publications and tourist memorabilia products from Dubai. Produced as an alternative to the city's PR driven and overtly commercial representation, ID offers an in-depth visual account of the city that has been written, documented and communicated by some of the most locally knowledgeable artists and writers in Dubai. Released in January 2016 at Kinokuniya (Book World) Dubai, images from the book have been featured on CNN's "Parting Shots" segment of the Becky Anderson Show. Also in 2016, an article about the books published by the National (entitled "Dubai uncovered: how one photographer has captured the other side of the city" ) made the top 5 read online art/culture stories of the year. In March 2017, photographer Jalal Abuthina was invited to give a guest talk about the ID books at the Emirates Airlines Literature Festival entitled "Dubai: a city in pictures" and have had the books featured in various regional publications such as Open Skies Magazine (Emirates Airlines), Khaleej Times, Time Out Dubai, Harpers Art Arabia, to name a few.
