Like other reviewers, I read in the news that modified vehicles had to go through ESMA to get a certificate of conformity in order to pass inspection by RTA. I added a supercharger to my vehicle, which initially caused it to fail inspection by RTA. When I brought the vehicle here, I specifically asked if this was a required step in the RTA inspection process, and they said that it was - all I had to do was present the ATC UAE inspection report (1890 AED) and ESMA certificate of conformity (1125.06 AED) to the RTA inspectors and they would pass it. However, this was not the case. I tried multiple inspection centers and even went to the RTA main office, and every RTA inspector and manager I spoke with said that RTA does not work with ESMA, and that I would have to schedule a time with the RTA Technical Committee at Shamil Qusais in order to get approval to pass inspection. RTA management said that numerous memos have been sent to ATC UAE and ESMA notifying them that their certification is not valid with RTA, yet they continue to take customers’ money (3015 AED in my case) and provide certificates that have no value (police also do not recognize the certificates). After I completed the process with RTA, I called the ATC UAE Technical Centre back and told them everything I learned from RTA, so they could inform future customers. Hopefully this will prevent others from wasting their money like I did.

I bought a Yaris in Dubai. This is a vehicle testing centre in Al Qusais. Once you buy a car in UAE you have to take it to vehicle testing centre before it comes on UAE roads. The technician with help of technology thoroughly checks chasis and many other parts of the car and then sign the NOC card and you take it to the adjacent traffic office to get it endrosed. Its is an obligatory on every car buyer to get it cleared from this centre. You have to spare at least 3-4 hours for this process.

Absolute waste of money going to this place. I had recently modified my car and I heard about ATC through the news - all the articles in news said that you can go there and get your modified car tested and you get a certificate saying that your car is registered as a modified car. I went there, paid and got my certificate but still I get stopped by the police multiple times and I've got fined for the modification. Abu Dhabi police is unwillingly to look at the certificate from ATC and still tell me that the modification is illegal.
