Nice place to go for a drive in the middle of a desert without 4x4. Calm and quit. Lot of animal farms arround.

Another gem on the Dubai-Al Ain stretch that offers a green patch and easy manoeuvring for those who want to stay close to the highway but yet experience the desert adventure. The green patch is a delight to camp at after the rains but beware of desert scorpions / critters. its nothing related to its name. we can't find any forest except red dunes and few trees here and there. Normal cars will reach there almost but drive carefully through the sands. many camel farms are there and many arabic families are living there.

Quite a secluded area. Lot of private property around. Can take sedan there. Bt recommend to camp early in daylight.

I came here few days ago, unfortunately form AD when I arrived here, it was already dark so I could not see much around me. Just drove on the track. Found a place for camping at night off the track. But my car stuck in the sand. After 2 hours or so one local family passed by, and they stopped for help. They were welcoming, and I cannot forget their hospitality. There are several camel farms around this area that u can know by the especial smell of animals. The best thing I enjoyed is to witness a desert scorpion for the first time in my life. I was barefooted stuck in the sand and out of nowhere a scorpion comes to say me hello. Thinking of what if it enters my car and hides somewhere; I killed him, the last thing I could wish to do to save myself from biting...: If I would not be stuck I will never go for a kill. I still feel sorry for that poor creature's life. Couldn't even do camping here coz I was so tired that wanted to go back home and sleep in my cozy bed. Couldn't even take a photo of it. I want to go to this place again but in day time probably so that i can do some sand surfing coz the sand dunes seemed really nice for such sports...:)

Many bloggers and campers have reviewed this place highly and boy it lived up to its reputation As a hot bed for campers it was not.... as a location it was near perfect (we were the only guys trying to camp / explore the place in the time of year that is best for the outdoors) Gaff trees were growing in what seemed like a river bed of an ancient long disappeared river of sorts, the distant hills in the horizon across the border in Oman could see some rains and when it does the rain water could be flowing down the path of the so called forest, the trees seemed in good shape and as a result a lot of camel farms were in the path cutting across the forest, the gaff trees served as fodder for the camels for sure as all the trees had a certain height to them as the camels foraged on their low hanging branches It was a short drive from the main road E66 - a town sprung up from nowhere it seemed - and lots of construction work on many villas was underway. The town gave way to a dirt road that was tarred and slowly but surely the road turned to a dirt track. Any car could navigate the track however a 4x4 was the best option as taken by us you could try some driving in the sand if you were as adventurous as us. Lots of these farms along the path were manned by a emigrant laborer and I am sure asking them for some water would never be a problem. If camping in the desert is in your mind and you have a wild streak in you this is a place one must try and get to. Be warned - scorpions galore - we did not catch one - but they mean no harm if you don't mess with them - after all it is their home you have invaded to enjoy Be responsible and be sure to review this place as more of us can enjoy the experiences Cheers
