Princess Haya Award for Special Education was initiated on 23rd November 2008 as the first of its kind in the region by Her Royal Highness Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, wife of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, in order to acknowledge outstanding individuals and institutions in the special needs sector. The award is in recognition and a motivation to all those who pledged their lives in helping people with special needs.
