When you arrive at the entrance turn left for parking. Leave your vehicle and walk towards the small hut on the right. Online registration is required for your safety. Scan the QR code and fill in the details. The guide will explain the area then you are ready to go. It’s best to wear good footwear as you will be walking at least 3km. Carry water bottles to keep hydrated. Depending on the timings you are visiting you will need to apply sunscreen. Don’t wear sunglasses as you’ll miss all the tiny insects and flies. Some of them you may have never seen before. Follow the path and look for the sign boards. Red labeled posts are for flamingo and green are for lizards There are rest areas around where you can stop and admire the view. Each rest area has information about the animals. Black winged Stilts. Spiny Tailed Lizard. This is a great place for an adventure with the children. They can explore the area and guess the foot prints of different animals. Many different types of srubs and small flowers. You’re hear lots of different sounds. As you get closer to the flamingo area it’s very noisy. You wouldn’t be able to visit during the summer at it can get very hot. It’s better to visit during the spring. The weather is cooler and pleasant. Pack a light lunch or snacks for the kids and take plenty of water there isn’t any cafeteria or coffee shop. No entry fee. Can only be accessed by car. Toilets are located at the main entrance only. It’s a really lovely place to visit and see the beautiful nature. Timings 8-4pm. Tuesday- Saturday No pets allowed.

It was a beautiful relaxed walk for us, hardly 15 minutes drive from Baniyas for us. Free entry, Serene atmosphere, cool (literally) walk ways etc. Worth a visit. We carried some water and biscuits with us (Did not litter and nothing was left behind). Overall had a good couple of hours

A nice trail to do in winter. The reserve has free entry. The trail to see the flamingos is 3.2km under the sun, but it has some spots with shadow to rest. The flamingos are very far away tho, so it's nothing very impressive. We also didn't saw any other animals, like lizards and bugs. It is a nice ride to do with kids and/or friends if they are interested in nature.

Natural flamingo reserve. Nice and clean. Better to visit in the morning hours. Since it was hot on the day of our visit at 8 am, it was very tiring for us and for kids also. Wear comfortable shoes and clothes while visiting since it's around 3 km walk. We just saw flamingoes flying away from us.. got a good video capture and few amazing pics. Spotted few flamingoes in between. Couldn't see any lizard. There r 2 shelter areas to rest. Few shaded areas in between as well. Rest all is desert, sand and plants. Toilets are only at the entrance. No joint for food or drinks. So carry lots of water to keep hydrated and some light snacks as it's tiring to walk for 2 hours. Don't forget cap and sunscreen. Mosquitoes might be there (depending upon time of the day).

It is a great place for families and children to connect with nature. It's rare to see such large numbers of flamingos, making this a particularly exciting trip for children. There is an air-conditioned visitor centre on-site and shaded areas along the walking trails but remember to stay hydrated and wear a hat and sunscreem.....there are no cafes available so make sure to bring your own re-usable bottle filled with water.

Alwathba wetland reserve is a place must see to everyone living in Abu Dhabi. Amazing place and peaceful as well! It’s a while drive but it’s great! Keep in mind to wear sport shoes and to bring a bottle of water with you. I would like to thank Claudia Steuber for taking me and my sisters on an amazing tour and explaining the type of trees , plants , infects and animals there. She’s a volunteer photographer and researcher and knows so much about our city and native plants Enhancements that can be done to the place: 1. Tour Guied to the place as people need to understand what is there and types of plants. 2. Enhancement to the building at the entrance and more staff that can use buggy cars if needed to drive for tours 3. To sell souvenirs (magnets, keychains, pens, notebook) something of remembrance to whoever visits the place. I got cash with me and card hoping to purchase something but nothing of such sort sadly. 4. Path needs a tag with how many areas to go through. How many KM has been covered. Where to go? Left or right. Some areas has a closed road with no sign. 5.probably open the area on the other side that has lions cheetahs and tigers to the public 6. To remove the two locations on google maps as one is misleading the other is accurate. (After the workers camp. On the right go straight up until you see the fence with the wetlands. Until the end of fence turn right and then right again. You reach the place when the road ends)

Search Google Maps for "Al Wathba Wetland reserve MAIN ENTRANCE" and you will find the way. The 3 km track was a nice walk with a few stops along the way. We saw flamingos, stilts, green bee eaters, plovers etc. Bring water and binoculars. At the start they also had a telescope to see the flamingos a little better. Great morning out if you want to see some nature and wildlife and walk around in the cooler weather. Takes around 45 minutes to walk the longer route. A little tricky to find if following Google maps, but worth it

It was an okay experience.. A new place to explore. There wasn't much wildlife to see, but one the guys working there said the lizards are all hiding in the ground cause it's winter and would come out in the summer season. The flamingos were really far and there's no place where you can see them clearly.
